Shavasana Procedure

The Shavasana Procedure begins by lying flat on the back on a yoga mat, allowing the body to fully surrender to the ground. The legs are gently spread apart, feet falling outward naturally, while the arms rest slightly away from the torso with palms facing upward, symbolizing openness and relaxation. The head, neck, and spine are aligned comfortably, ensuring there is no strain anywhere in the body. Once settled, the practitioner consciously closes the eyes and brings awareness to the breath without trying to control it. Slow, natural inhalations and exhalations help calm the nervous system, signaling the body to shift from activity to deep rest. As the breath becomes steady, attention is gradually moved through different parts of the body—from the toes to the crown of the head—softening muscles, releasing tension, and dissolving accumulated stress. This systematic relaxation allows the body to absorb the benefits of the previous yoga practice while promoting profound physical and mental stillness.
