How do early-stage startups approach Go to Market execution?

I’ve been looking into how early-stage startups handle their Go to Market execution, especially when they don’t yet have a dedicated internal team. In your experience, is it better to build outbound GTM teams in-house from the beginning, or to work with external partners who can help get things off the ground faster?

I’m particularly curious about how founders evaluate these options in practice, and what has actually worked long term versus just short-term traction.
