Budesonide, a corticosteroid found in it, helps to enhance breathing and avoid asthma attacks by decreasing airway inflammation. As a maintenance inhaler, Budecort must to be used consistently as directed, even in the absence of symptoms. It is not meant to provide instant relief from an asthma attack.
