— Terminal 2 (Humphrey Terminal) at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. I’ve flown through it a few times recently and thought it’d be helpful to share details for others flying with Sun Country Airlines soon.
I was honestly surprised by how smooth everything went. Unlike Terminal 1, which can be chaotic, Terminal 2 is super easy to navigate. Fewer gates, shorter security lines, and way less stress. Perfect for travelers who want a quick in-and-out experience.
Here’s a breakdown of what I noticed and learned from flying out of this terminal several times:
Sun Country exclusively flies out of Terminal 2 (Humphrey Terminal). This terminal is smaller, less congested, and specifically designed to accommodate low-cost carriers like Sun Country. All flights board from Concourse H, and getting around is a breeze.
Directions are simple. If you’re driving, just follow signs for Terminal 2 once you're on airport grounds. There's Orange and Purple parking ramps connected directly to the terminal via skyways. If you're taking the light rail, the Metro Blue Line goes right to Terminal 2 from downtown Minneapolis or Mall of America — and the ride between terminals is FREE.
Check-in is fast, especially if you do it online or via the app. Kiosks are available if needed, and there's a staffed counter if you're checking bags. Security was one of the fastest I've ever experienced — they even have TSA PreCheck lanes, which helped a lot.
Tip: For domestic flights, getting there 2 hours before is more than enough, but for international flights, give yourself 3 hours — customs and document checks can take time.
Okay, so Terminal 2 doesn’t have the biggest food court, but it gets the job done. Here are a few options I tried or saw:
Cocina del Barrio – Great tacos and margaritas if you’re not rushing.
Starbucks – Always a line, but moves fast.
Subway – Simple and reliable.
Farmer’s Fridge – Grab-and-go healthy options.
MSP MKT – Small market with snacks and drinks.
They’ve also got souvenir shops, charging stations, pet relief areas, and family restrooms.
Yup, Sun Country handles international flights here too — places like Cancun, Punta Cana, and Costa Rica. The international side of Terminal 2 has customs and passport control, so no need to switch terminals. Pretty convenient!
Just make sure you:
Bring your passport and any required documents
Arrive early
Double-check visa rules for your destination
Rumor has it there are some big upgrades coming to Terminal 2 in the next few years — more gates, added dining, better tech. Honestly, I already like it as-is, but can’t complain about more seating and food options.
