Oil-Fired Boilers vs. Gas Boilers: Pros and Cons Explained

Příspěvek od iamrick9211 »

The efficiency of oil-fired boilers has improved significantly over the years. Older models often operated at around 60–70% efficiency, meaning a substantial portion of the fuel's energy content was lost in the form of exhaust heat. However, modern high-efficiency oil-fired boilers can reach efficiency ratings above 85%, with some condensing models approaching 90% or more. These improvements are due to better burner designs, advanced control systems, and more effective heat exchangers that recover more heat from the combustion process. Condensing boilers, in particular, extract latent heat from the exhaust gases by condensing the water vapor present, thereby capturing energy that would otherwise escape through the flue. Though less common in oil systems than gas, condensing oil boilers are gaining popularity in markets focused on reducing energy consumption and emissions.
