A Guide to Critical Literature Reviews

Has anybody here compiled a comprehensive approach to what is Critical Literature Review is? I keep receiving conflicting advice and would like to hear how others approach it. For example, what exactly is the purpose of a critical literature review if it is not just to summarize sources? Do you tend to compare theories, point out gaps, or challenge methods? Any suggestions, frameworks, or resources that you've found beneficial would be highly appreciated.
